Modern life in Scotland is increasingly busy. The connections our ancestors had with nature and the land are being lost. The sea level off Greenock Esplanade was the highest I'd ever seen it when I checked at lunchtime today. Thankfully, the much heralded storm surge failed to arrive and the water stayed mainly where it belonged...
