Modern life in Scotland is increasingly busy. The connections our ancestors had with nature and the land are being lost. The sudden return to cooler weather seems to have had an effect the local Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps with only one of the former and none of the latter singing around the square. A Great Spotted Woodpecker calling from just across the river was slightly unusual for that particular spot.
