Today's walk around my home 1km square yielded an impressive five singing Chiffchaffs and two singing Willow Warblers. My normal figures are two and one respectively. Presumably last year was a productive one and some of the young raised then have come back to attempt to breed. It will be interesting to see how many of each eventually settle on territories. A pair of Moorhens seem to have settled across the river from Moulin playing fields. Also notable were four singing Greenfinches and eight singing Blackbirds.
