A two hour walk around my home 1km square and the three
adjacent squares produced a total of 36 species, the highlights being: a pair
of Ravens at their nest, a flock of ten Lesser Redpolls, a lone Cormorant, two
Kingfishers, three Great Spotted Woodpeckers, six Nuthatches, two singing Stock
Doves and the following warblers all in song: seven Willow Warblers, ten Chiffchaffs
and ten Blackcaps. Mammals consisted of Roe Deer and Grey Squirrel. Flowering
plants included my second Cuckoo Flower of the year (after the first earlier
this week).
